The total supply of office space in cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht in the Netherlands from January 2011 to July 2020 (in thousand square meters of lettable floor area) has seen drastic changes. While there were around 587.000 square meters of office space in supply in the Hague in January 2019, this number dropped to 282.200 square meters in July of the following year. Amsterdam didn't see as much changes as the other municipalities: in January 2019, approximately 554,000 square meters of office space was on supply in Amsterdam. In July of 2020, this number had changed to 580.200 square meters.
Many European cities witness their office vacancy space decrease, due to the higher level of transactions combined with modest levels of new construction. Two percent of the available office accommodation in Amsterdam in 2016, for instance, was accounted for by new construction. Additionally, the vacant office space has been affected drastically by the COVID-19 pandemic.
